Born in Tennessee, raised in Alabama, Melba Montgomery is one of Country Music's favorites. With many hit singles, including No Charge, Don't Let The Good Times Fool You, We Must Have Been Out Of Our Minds, and Did You Ever, Melba is a multi-million selling international classic today. Melba recorded for United Artists, Capitol, Elektra, and Musicor.

 

In 1958, Melba entered and won a Pet Milk-sponsored contest at the WSM radio studio in Nashville. Not long after winning the contest, Melba performed with Roy Acuff and his band for several years performing at various venues and locations throughout the world, including USO tours entertaining troops abroad.

 

George Jones eventually heard Melba Montgomery and wanted to record and perform with the female singer. Their harmonies on many duet albums are still revered today.

 

Melba has recorded duets with George Jones, Charlie Louvin, and Gene Pitney. She has written songs for such artists as George Strait, Reba McEntire, Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd, and many others.

 

Melba has traveled and performed in every state within the United States, Canada, and many foreign countries such as England, Scotland, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, France, North Africa, Australia, and Spain. She has entertained thousands in London at Wembley Stadium, The Golden Nugget in Las Vegas, State Fairs and Rodeos all across the United States.

 

Melba has been a frequent guest on many television shows such as Hee Haw, The Mike Douglas Show, Pop Goes the Country, Porter Wagoner Show, Family Reunion, The Marty Stuart Show and Nashville Now. Melba has also appeared many times on the Grand Ole Opry.

 

Currently, Melba is still writing songs that are being recorded by artists each year and continues to sing on occasion at various events.
